Where’s the Money?® Access to Capital Business Expo a Success in San Diego — Nearly 200 Small Business Owners Attended Business Expo
San Diego, CA — VEDC (Valley Economic Development Center) joined ACCION San Diego to bring the Where’s the Money? Access to Capital Business Expo to struggling business owners in the San Diego area. The event, held on Saturday, April 16th at the Doubletree Hotel in San Diego. The Expo was a success with nearly 200 small business owners attending, searching for the financing they needed to stay in business or to expand.
This year, VEDC partnered with ACCION San Diego to bring the VEDC signature event, Where’s the Money? Access to Capital Business Expo back to the area. Thanks to support from Wells Fargo, and partnerships with community organizations and lenders, VEDC has been able to bring consulting, entrepreneurial workshops and access to capital to almost 1,000 small business owners statewide. The Business Expo has helped business owners with meeting their capital needs during this economic downturn.
The event included a networking breakfast with opening remarks from Elizabeth Makee, ACCION Executive Director. In addition to the workshops, which were aimed at providing businesses with vital tools and information for financial survival, attendees were able to take advantage of a Loan Pavilion where business owners could meet one-on-one with a Wells Fargo banker, a CDC Small Business Finance loan officer or a VEDC loan consultant to discuss their lending options in a more confidential setting.
The luncheon featured special guest, Honorable Jerry Sanders, Mayor of San Diego and Keynote Speaker Ruben Garcia, U.S. Small Business Administration San Diego District Director.
“Small Businesses are the life blood of the American economy as they comprise more that 2/3 of the businesses in the U.S. I know that all those who attended this meeting will be better informed as to what is available for them now through SBA guaranteed loans,” commented Ruben Garcia, U.S. Small Business Administration District Director of San Diego.
VEDC recognized the importance of small business to our struggling economy and is dedicated to providing business owners with the tools they need to survive and thrive during this severe credit crunch.
The next Where’s the Money? Access to Capital Business Expo will be held in Los Angeles on June 25, 2011. VEDC will continue to expand their statewide small business lending program — the Chase Small Business California Loan Program.
